Practice Endings: Planned and Unplanned

August 25, 2023 | 12:00 to 2:00 pm Eastern Time

THIS EVENT IS CURRENTLY FULL.

Presenter: Laura Groshong, LICSW

Target Audience: Clinical Social Workers

Content level: Advanced

CE credits: 2 (General)

About the webinar:

This webinar will focus on how to end a clinical social work practice due to retirement and how to prepare for an unanticipated ending to a private practice. Part of being a responsible clinical social worker is anticipating the possibility that life events may interfere with our clinical social work practices. This means having a plan in place to notify clients, including having a colleague identified who is willing to enact this plan, maintaining records, and managing finances. Developing a mindful approach to ending our clinical social work practices is an important part of best practices. This program will review the emotional and practical issues involved in ending a practice and will offer suggestions on how to approach these issues. Templates will be provided.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this webinar participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the ways that retirement can be planned for and implemented.
  2. Identify who will serve as a backup professional and an executor when practice ends in an unplanned way.
  3. Describe the emotional experience of ending a practice.

    About the instructor:
