Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify and define key terms: Racism; Racial trauma; Bias and Prejudice
  2. Identify the symptoms reflecting the psychological toll of racism
  3. Empowering Self: Identify practical ways to manage the impact of trauma
  4. Identify tools and strategies to talking about race/beginning the dialogue
  5. Discuss the key components to developing self-awareness and addressing one’s own biases and prejudices

About the Facilitator

Dr. Davine S. Ricks, PhD, LCSW, MAC, E-CADC - Facilitator

Dr. Davine S. Ricks is a dedicated and enthusiastic leader with over 30 years of experience in developing and implementing behavioral healthcare systems in multimillion-dollar complex public and private sectors, and faith-based organizations. Dr. Rick’s areas of expertise include providing treatment services to women, men and children in the areas of mental health, substance use and criminal justice. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), and Certified Alcohol and Drug E-Counselor (ECADC). She has provided direct services and leadership in Outpatient Mental Health Centers, Drug Courts, DUI Courts, Veteran’s Court, Re-Entry Services and Community Integration programs and Faith-Based organizations. Dr. Ricks is also accomplished as a federal and state grant writer and reviewer, program evaluator, teacher, and provider of clinical supervision. Dr. Ricks graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Union University, attended University of Richmond Law School and later received her Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree and Doctorate Degree in Social Work Policy and Administration from Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Ricks enjoys engaging, educating and empowering individuals and organizations in her business, Sense of Equity, LLC: Program Development, Training and Accreditation Services, LLC. Sense of Equity, LLC, fills a void in the business community by providing a consistent presentation of exceptional capabilities. Services provided include: Grant Writing; Program Development; Evidenced-based leadership training (behavioral health and organizational development workshops), Life Coach Services, Counseling, Motivational Speaking and Accreditation services.

Course Completion & CE Info

To earn 2.0 CE credits, must log in at the scheduled time, and attend the entire course.  Attendees must attend this session to receive a Post-test/Evaluation/Certificate follow-up email after the completion of the program to obtain CE credit. 

Clinical Social Work Association, provider #1719, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Clinical Social Work Association maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 08/27/20 – 08/27/23. Clinical Social Workers completing this course will receive 2 clinical continuing education credit after passing the post-test.
