A Live, Interactive Webinar

October 27, 2020, 4:00-5:00 pm ET/1:00-2:00 pm PT

Target Audience: social workers, mental health professionals

Content level: intermediate

This 1 credit course was developed for clinical social work professionals. Though LCSWs have been working remotely for the past seven months, we are just beginning to process the way that leaving our offices has affected the way we understand ourselves and our patients. The impact of remote psychotherapy is multi-layered. Attend and consider all the ways our practices have been impacted.

About the instructor

Laura Groshong, LICSW, has been in clinical practice for the past 43 years.  She was also a Registered Lobbyist in Washington for five mental health organizations for 25 years.  She has been the Director of Policy and Practice for the Clinical Social Work Association nationally since 2006 and, through the Mental Health Liaison Group, worked on passage of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equality Act of 2008, the Affordable Care Act, and many other pieces of legislation that support and benefit LCSWs.  Laura, a dynamic and engaging speaker, has written and lectured extensively on clinical and legislative issues around the country.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this Live, Interactive Webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the emotional meaning of leaving the office.
  2. Describe diagnostic considerations of returning to offices.
  3. Explain ways LCSWs have been processing their own experiences of lack of control as it pertains to loss of their office spaces, per COVID.
  4. Conceptualize joint impacts of the pandemic crisis and the loss of boundaries relative to telehealth.
  5. Explain when to set boundaries for patient’s online behavior.
